This privacy policy applies to Safi (hereby referred to as "Application") for mobile devices, previously published as "AI Food Scanner: Allergen", created by Codemy studio (hereby referred to as "Service Provider") as an Ad Supported service. This service is intended for use "AS IS".

To analyse food and answer your questions, the Application uses Google Gemini AI (provided by Google LLC) as a third-party service provider. Before anything is sent for the first time, the Application shows you what will be shared and asks for your agreement. You can decline and continue using the rest of the Application.

Depending on which feature you use, the following data is transmitted to Google Gemini AI:

• Photo scan: the food image you provide.
• Barcode scan: the barcode number you scan.
• Typed meal: the text description of the meal you write.
• AI Assistant (coach): your message, together with a summary of your food diary — your daily targets, the entries logged today, recent daily totals and your logging streak.
• Weekly review: a summary of the last seven days — daily totals against your targets, your most frequently logged foods, and any entries that matched a food you avoid.
• With every one of the above: the health information you entered in your profile — the foods and allergens you avoid, any health conditions you selected, your dietary style, your goal and your unit preference — and your app language, so the answer comes back in it.

This data is sent solely to process your request and return nutrition and allergen information. We do not send your name, email address, account identifier or location to Google Gemini AI. Your food diary, your weight history and your profile are stored on your device; the Service Provider does not keep a copy of them on its servers, and the data sent for a request is not used to build a profile of you. Google's handling of the data it receives is governed by its own privacy policy, linked below.

The Application lets you record health information — allergens and foods you avoid, health conditions, height, weight, age, sex, activity level and goals — so it can calculate your daily targets and warn you about foods you avoid. This information is stored locally on your device. It is used in two ways: on the device, to calculate targets and check scanned foods, and, for the AI features listed above, as part of the request sent to Google Gemini AI. It is never sold, and it is not shared with advertisers.

You can change or clear this information at any time from the Health Profile and Allergen Profile screens in the Application. Uninstalling the Application removes the locally stored data, including your diary and profile.

Barcode lookups are answered from Open Food Facts, a public food product database. Only the barcode number is used for the lookup.

The Application provides nutritional and allergen information for informational purposes only. Estimates are generated by AI and may not be 100% accurate. The Application does not provide medical advice, diagnosis or treatment, and it is not a medical device. Always consult a healthcare professional before making dietary decisions, particularly if you have a health condition, take medication, or are pregnant or breastfeeding.

The targets and guidance in the Application are calculated from published references, which are listed with links inside the Application under "Sources" and include:

• Mifflin MD, St Jeor ST, et al. A new predictive equation for resting energy expenditure in healthy individuals. Am J Clin Nutr, 1990 — used for resting energy and daily calorie needs.
• National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine. Dietary Reference Intakes for Energy, Carbohydrate, Fiber, Fat, Fatty Acids, Cholesterol, Protein, and Amino Acids — used for protein, carbohydrate, fat, fibre and water targets.
• World Health Organization — Guideline: Sugars intake for adults and children, Salt reduction, Healthy diet, and Obesity and overweight — used for the sugar and sodium limits, general guidance and BMI ranges.
• U.S. Food and Drug Administration — Daily Value on the Nutrition and Supplement Facts Labels and Food Allergies — used for reference daily values and the major allergens the scanner watches for.
• U.S. Department of Agriculture — FoodData Central, and Open Food Facts — used for reference nutrition figures and packaged product data.

The Application collects information when you download and use it. This information may include:

• Your device's Internet Protocol address (e.g. IP address)
• The pages of the Application that you visit, the time and date of your visit
• The operating system you use on your mobile device

The Application asks your permission before using the camera (to scan food and barcodes), your photo library (to pick an existing image to scan) and notifications (for the meal and weigh-in reminders you choose to enable). On iOS, the Application also asks for your permission through App Tracking Transparency before any advertising identifier is used for personalised advertising; if you decline, the Application continues to work and shows non-personalised ads instead.

The Service Provider shares your information with third parties only in the ways described in this privacy statement. Below are the links to the Privacy Policy of the third-party service providers used:

• Google Gemini AI — food analysis and the AI assistant
• AdMob — advertising
• Google Analytics for Firebase — usage analytics
• OneSignal — push notifications
• RevenueCat — subscription management
• Open Food Facts — packaged product data

Each of these providers is bound by its own privacy policy, which offers protection equivalent to that described here for the data it receives.

Your diary, profile and weight history are stored on your device and are removed when you uninstall the Application. The Service Provider will retain any User Provided data for as long as you use the Application. If you'd like them to delete data provided via the Application, please contact them at the email address below.

The Application does not address anyone under the age of 13. In the case a child under 13 has provided personal information, it will be immediately deleted.

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. You are advised to consult this page regularly for any changes.
